World Pork Expo Expected to Attract Widespread Local Attention
Doug Fricke - National Pork Producers Council

Farmscape for June 5, 2017

The Director of Trade Show Marketing with the National Pork Producers Council says, in addition to attracting pork producers from around the world, World Pork Expo is a great local attraction.
Pork producers and their equipment and service providers will be on hand in Des Moines this week from about 30 countries for the 2017 edition of World Pork Expo.
The annual event is set for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at the Iowa State Fair Grounds.
Doug Fricke, the Director of Trade Show Marketing with the National Pork Producers Council, says the event attracts pork industry stakeholders from around the world and it's also a great local attraction.

Clip-Doug Fricke-National Pork Producers Council:
It does gain quite a bit of attention here locally and through the state of Iowa with the economics of the swine industry being one of the largest industries in the state.
That is recognized by local leaders and local folks who come out and visit the events.
We have a lot of focus on just how many people it actually brings in and the economic value that it poses to the greater Des Moines area.
With the number of attendees pushing 20 plus thousand, that really has a positive effect on the economy here and the welcoming arms of the city, it really is presented when you go out to eat.
You're going to see things related to World Pork Expo.
You'll see signage, you'll see welcome signs where ever you go so it's really great value for the state and specifically the Des Moines area and they do appreciate it.

Fricke notes admission includes the Big Grill which is open each day of the show, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and food is served from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, a free complimentary activity and the Thursday evening concert which runs from 4:30 to 8:00 pm.
