A Saskatchewan rancher and blogger has been named the winner of Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan's 2017 Farm and Food Care Champion Award.
The 2017 Farm and Food Care Champion Award was presented yesterday as part of Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan's fourth annual Farms at the Table Conference in Saskatoon.
Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan Executive Director Clinton Monchuk says this year's winner was Adrienne Ivey.

Clip-Clinton Monchuk-Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan:
Adrienne is a rancher from the Ituna area and she really does an excellent job with her blog, View From the Ranch Porch, as well as different engagement pieces whether it's on Twitter or Instagram or other social media avenues to get the message out about agriculture and specifically ranching and her perspective from the ranch.
Having somebody like her who is very engaged, trying to get out and answer some of those tough questions that consumers have really is helpful for our entire industry to exemplify and show how one individual can really make a difference in terms of public trust for agriculture.
Her background, she does have a degree in agriculture from the University of Saskatchewan.
Her and her husband Aaron have been ranching in the Ituna area for quite a number of years now.
In terms of what she brings to the table, one of the big things when we look at how to build public trust, it's actually having people who are mothers or fathers talk about what they're doing to actually relate to other mothers and fathers and say this is the way we raise our animals, our cattle on this ranch and this is why I have no problem feeding my children this food.
That's one of the big things that I see with Adrienne and how she gets her message across to other mothers and parents throughout North America about how Saskatchewan cattle are being raised.

Monchuk says this year's Farm and Food Care Champion has been doing an excellent job in building public trust in agriculture.
For Farmscape.Ca, I'm Bruce Cochrane.
