Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan 2025 Champion Award Nomination Deadline Approaching
Clinton Monchuk - Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan

Farmscape for July 15, 2025

The nomination deadline for Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan’s 2025 Champion Award is now just a month and a half away.
Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan is accepting nominations until August 31st for its 2025 Champion Award.
The annual award recognizes a person or organization who strives to engage with consumers about agriculture and help build public trust in food production.
Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan Executive Director Clinton Monchuk says, before confederation 150 plus years ago, 80 percent of Canada's population lived in a rural setting but today that has flipped with only about 20 percent living in rural settings and, when you look at the hard numbers, only 1.6 percent of the population is activity engaged in primary agriculture.

Quote-Clinton Monchuk-Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan:
We have such a great industry.
Especially in Saskatchewan, agriculture is the backbone of our province and we've gone through a lot over the over 100 years that we've been a province and we need to celebrate those who are making a difference in agriculture and this is one of those ways that we can celebrate and I think it's great to promote this and celebrate agriculture and those who are making a difference in agriculture.
So, the Champion Award is really celebrating an individual that has really gone above and beyond in terms of what they're doing to try and engage or educate the consumers about what farmers and ranchers are doing.
Anybody who's nominated for the Campion Award, what we're looking for how they've used their skills to better inform consumers about what we do in the agriculture world and really done a measurable job of that.
We've had some great award recipients in the past, from farmers to researchers to people who have spent their entire life talking to the public about farming and we want to celebrate that.
We want to encourage others to do similar things so, right from the inception in 2014, we have had a Champion Award recipient and we're looking forward to doing that again here in 2025.
